The Language Shtick

"Niggardly"
"niggard"{miser} and "niggardly"{miserly}<-[Middle English]"nygard and "nygardie"<-Likely from Scandinavian

We the people, of The Shtick, seeking to uphold wholsome language andinasmuch as English is concerned, being zealously interested in its germanic origins, do seekto combat the evil forces which have denigrated the status of "niggardly" totaboo. (Ironic double entente.)

The word "niggardly" means "miserly" and is likely related to"niggle." It has in modern times come under fire for sounding too much akin to the dreadedN-word, though that word has its roots in Latin and did not make its debute until centuriesafter "niggardly" entered the scene.

We feel it lamentable that in a world where understanding and toleranceare preached to the masses, the innocent are attacked in a narrow-minded witch-hunt under thebanner of political correctness while the truly ignorant and intolerant receive specialtreatment and great deference.
