The Opinion Shtick

Spam

We at The Shtick believe that open and honest communication is an integral part of the foundation upon which society is built. We also believe in working hard and providing a valuable service in exchange for what gains we receive in our daily pursuits. Therefore we will do everything in our power to fight spam, which includes all kinds of fraudulant, commercial, or pornographic messages sent without solicitation.

The act of harvesting people's contact email addresses from the Internet without their knowledge or consent in order to send fraudulant, commercial, or pornographic messages in bulk is a deplorable, dishonest, and disrespectful practice which weakens our society's ability to trust and communicate. It does not exchange anything of value for recipients' wasted time. Such piracy should not be considered acceptable.

At this time, all of The Shtick's developments are protected against spam. We have spent much time researching spam protection and intend to employ what methods we have found to be valuable in all of our future developments. We also plan on using what influence we have to promote the use of these methods by other web developers.

To this end we have developed Spam Wars, which is a site designed to teach both web developers and regular Internet users how to protect themselves from spam and strike back when they have been spammed to shut down the spammers.

We hope that with this resolve we can make the Internet a more valuable and enjoyable resource for everyone.
