Spaghettification in Black Holes

     The gravitational field of a black hole provides a very interesting example of an extreme effect of differential forces.

     Not only is the vertical stretching affect greatly magnified in a black hole’s intense gravitational pull, but here we also get an extreme example of something made apparent in Figure 2 and that is the squeezing affect.

     The gravitational field lines in Figure 4 serve to illustrate how gravity’s pull from multiple directions can cause a squeezing effect as objects of some width are pulled in towards a center of gravity.

     The differential forces in the vicinity of a black hole are so extreme that an object would be stretched and squeezed into a long thin mass almost like being funneled into the black hole’s massive interior. This process has, by some, come to be referred to as “spaghetification”, describing the physical distortion which would occur in the process.
